Great Southern Hotel Sydney

Just got back from a stay in the heart of Chinatown. LOVED the amazing room with ensuite and courtyard view! Breakfast from 6.30 was perfect. Definitely coming back! Photos don't do justice to the room size.

Great Southern Hotel Sydney was a delightful stay. The room rates were fantastic, and the staff were helpful with dining recommendations. The location near Central station was convenient. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Will definitely recommend and return. A few minor issues but overall wonderful experience.

The security of the building at Great Southern Hotel Sydney was fantastic. The lovely staff made my stay enjoyable, and the place was impeccably clean. The location was ideal, close to Chinatown and other amenities. While I didn't dine at the restaurant, I had a great time overall. The hotel's history added a nice touch to the experience.

My recent stay at this hotel was a pleasant experience overall. the staff, especially at the reception, were friendly and efficient. They were accommodating when we needed to store our bags before check-in and after check-out - very convenient! the breakfast buffet was amazing with plenty of choices, definitely worth the price. the location was great, just a couple of minutes' walk from Central Station and close to Chinatown and Paddy's Market. the room was spacious, clean, and quiet, making it enjoyable to relax after a day of exploring the city.

One improvement that could be made is the soundproofing in the rooms. While it wasn't a significant issue for me, it could bother light sleepers.

The room was a steal - spacious and with a great working desk and chair for the price. So close to everything - theatres, China Town, and tram lines nearby. Comfortable rooms, clean with hot showers and fantastic water pressure. Loved the big comfy bed, and the staff at the front door were top-notch. 🌆 Meals were outstanding, and proximity to Central Rail station was a plus. The only downside was the awkward bathroom layout, but it didn't take away from the overall positive experience.

I stayed in room 203 for an overnight stay after my trip from Bangkok via Singapore. The room was comfortable and had a safe, adding to my relaxation. The location of Great Southern Hotel was perfect, with easy access from the airport. It was just a 5-minute walk to Central Station, the Light Rail, and Paddy's Market. The hotel's pub served great food at affordable prices, and I highly recommend trying their Bangers and Mash. a fantastic experience and I'll definitely stay here again when next in town.

King size bed may feel cramped for two people.

We had a great stay in this hotel as we enjoyed its best aspects, including thesuper clean and cozy rooms, friendly staff, and convenient location near Chinatown and Central station. This made it very easy for us to explore the city's main attractions, as we were just a short walk away from the light rail station at Chinatown, which took us to the Fish Market Museum and other places.

Nothing that we didn't like about this hotel as everything was perfect.

The hotel's decoration exudes a timeless elegance, with beautiful old world charm and comfortable, classic furnishings in the lobby and common areas. As a senior woman, I truly appreciated the ease of accessibility throughout the hotel, making it convenient for me to move around and enjoy the facilities without any hindrances. The staff, who I fondly referred to as the children of the staff, were exceptionally helpful and attentive to the needs of senior guests like myself, ensuring a comforting and welcoming stay.

I would ask for a better vacation for senior people by requesting for quieter cleaning times to ensure uninterrupted rest, especially in the early morning hours.

Our stay at the hotel was made even better by its close proximity to Central Station and Capitol Theatre, making it extremely convenient to travel around Sydney. We were able to easily explore iconic attractions like Circular Quay, the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, and The Rocks. It's a great base for families to start discovering this beautiful city.

My wife says that a family-friendly activity area or playroom within the hotel would have been a great addition for families with children.

We had a fantastic stay at a hotel in a great location. the staff were incredibly helpful, the room was safe and comfortable, and there was even a nice pub downstairs. the toiletries provided were of good quality, and we appreciated having a fridge in the room. What we really liked was being able to smoke on the balconies just outside our room. the location was perfect, right on the doorstep of a central station and the light rail. Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the bathroom was nice. a highly recommended hotel.

Those heritage vibes though, felt like I time-travelled back to 1854 - lace them with some beers at the Great Southern Bar. Central Station's hustle made me feel like a local. Stumbled upon great views - future's looking bright down at the Queens Wharf. Cheers to unexpected adventures in my Aussie backyard! 🇦🇺

We stayed here during a busy time and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room. Its location in the central business district made it close to many tourist areas and it was so close to the central train station which made it very easy to get around. The staff here were amazing, they had a lovely approach and were very efficient and friendly whilst providing excellent customer service.

We weren't initially impressed, but the staff at Great Southern Hotel were fantastic! the location couldn't be beat, just a short walk from Central Station and right in the heart of the Thai and Chinese district. Public transport options were right outside the hotel, making it easy to explore the city. the bathroom was clean and well-maintained, and the room itself was comfortable. We also enjoyed the excellent food and reasonable prices at the pub off the lobby. a great experience.

We stayed near a bustling transportation hub, making getting around incredibly easy. Paddy's Market and the Capitol Theatre were just steps away. The room was spacious and clean with a large, comfortable bed, perfect for a restless partner. The staff was friendly and accommodating, providing additional towels and pillows upon request.

My friends and I had a blast staying super close to Circular Quay and the Opera House. We got awesome pics with the Sydney Harbour Bridge and explored The Rocks, finding cool shops and cafes. The hotel's location near Central Station made it a breeze to hop on a train to Marvel Stadium for a fun night out. The staff was chill and the rooms were comfy, great for crashing out after a big day.

It would’ve been rad if the hotel had a rooftop hangout spot, like a chill bar or lounge for us teens to unwind and have a good time at night.

Affordable price, secure and clean with convenient luggage storage and close to Central station. Modern rooms and great location, walking distance to major attractions.
